The Denise H. Bedenbaugh Scholarship

The Friends of the Lexington Main Library is honoring the service of Denise H. Bedenbaugh by naming this scholarship after her. The Friends offer three $1000 scholarships; one to a student in the Lexington High School attendance area, one to a student in the River Bluff High School attendance area, and one to a student in the White Knoll High School attendance area. Students may use these funds for their post-secondary education.

Who is eligible for this scholarship? 
Any graduating senior in the Lexington High School attendance area, River Bluff High School attendance area, or White Knoll High School attendance area pursuing a post-secondary education may apply. The student must be a resident of Lexington County, South Carolina in order to be eligible. Home schooled students and students attending private school may apply if they live in the attendance area of LHS, WKHS or RBHS.

What is the scholarship?
The Friends of Lexington Main Library will award three $1000 scholarships to graduating seniors in the Lexington, River Bluff, and White Knoll attendance areas. This is a one-time scholarship that can be applied to tuition, books, fees, etc.

General Rules

Applicants will be judged on their character, as evidenced in letters of recommendations, initiative and leadership, as evidenced in extracurricular activities at school and in the community, essay, and need. This scholarship is issued “one time only” and is not renewable.

The Friends of Lexington Main Library Scholarship Committee shall review all applications and shall have full authority to grant the scholarship.

How To Apply

The application opens on January 15, 2024.  Applicants may download the online application HERE and send it, along with all attachments, to flmlscholarship@gmail.com

 Applications must include:

●      Completed application

●      Parent Letter

●      Official Transcript from Parchment (scanned copy or photo)

●      Essay (200 words or less)- Use this as an opportunity to show us your voice!

●      2 Letters of Recommendation (dated from 2023-2024 school year)

All applications and required attachments must be submitted together by 11:59 pm on Sunday, March 31, 2024 to be eligible.  Applications submitted after this deadline or incomplete applications will not be considered.
