The Friends of the Lexington Main Library is a non-profit, volunteer organization that supports the Lexington Main Library in Lexington, South Carolina.

Through membership dues, book sales, gift shop sales, and special fund-raising activities, the Friends provide funding for non-budgeted library projects and programs.

  • Financially supporting the annual Summer Reading Program for children.
  • Sponsoring the annual Summer Reading Kick Off Party.
  • Sponsoring the annual Historic Heros.
  • Funding many of the Youth Services programs for children and teens.
  • Sponsoring the Lexington Main Library's professional librarians participation in the South Carolina Library Association.
  • Underwriting a substantial portion of the library system's annual In-Service Staff Education Day.
  • Staffing the Friends Corner Gift Shop.
  • Holding fund-raising events throughout the year.

  • Expanding the Youth Services Computer Area with updated computers, furniture and decor.
  • Purchasing a marquee sign for the front of the library.
  • Commissioning and funding the “Circle of Friends” statue in front of the library.
  • Assisting in providing for the furnishings in the South Carolina Room.
  • Establishing a South Carolina Room fund for collecting materials of local interest and history.
  • Purchasing a photocopier and two microfilm reader/printers.
  • Designing and installing the “Hand Print Tiles” in the library's foyer and Youth Services Department.
  • Establishing the Friends Corner Gift Shop.
